More about Grand Prix of Toronto

The Grand Prix of Toronto—currently branded as the Ontario Honda Dealers Indy Toronto—is a marquee annual IndyCar street-race event held on a 2.874 km (1.786 mi), 11‑turn circuit around Exhibition Place, along Lake Shore Boulevard in Toronto. Since its debut as the Molson Indy Toronto in 1986, it has become a highlight of the IndyCar calendar, only surpassed in longevity by Long Beach and Mid‑Ohio for non-oval races.

The event routinely draws more than 170,000 fans across its three‑day schedule of on‑track action, entertainment, and family‑friendly activities like Honda Fan Friday and beer gardens. Michael Andretti holds the record for most driver wins with seven, and Honda‑powered cars have taken victory 13 times, reflecting strong manufacturer presence.

Over the years, the layout has seen improvements—like a pit‑lane swap in 2016 to accommodate nearby construction, and modern safety upgrades—while staying true to its downtown setting. Although the 2020 and 2021 races were paused due to COVID‑19, the Grand Prix made a strong return with thrilling finishes, marred only by red-flag incidents such as a dramatic multi‑car crash in a recent edition.
