More about Road America

Road America is one of North America’s premier road racing circuits, renowned for its rich history, challenging layout, and scenic setting. Located in Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin, the track has been a cornerstone of American motorsports since its opening in 1955. Often referred to as “America’s National Park of Speed,” Road America spans 640 acres of rolling countryside in Wisconsin’s Kettle Moraine region.

The track itself is a permanent road course measuring 4.048 miles (6.515 km) with 14 turns. It’s widely respected for its combination of long straights, sweeping curves, and technical corners, making it a favorite among drivers and fans alike. Key sections of the track include the high-speed Kettle Bottoms, the challenging Carousel turn, and the Canada Corner, all of which test a driver’s skill and nerve. Its elevation changes and natural terrain add to the complexity and excitement of the racing experience.

Road America hosts a wide range of events across multiple disciplines of motorsports, including NASCAR Xfinity Series, IndyCar Series, IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship, MotoAmerica, and vintage racing events like the WeatherTech International Challenge. The venue’s calendar also features amateur racing, driving schools, and corporate events.

Beyond the racing, Road America is celebrated for its fan-friendly atmosphere. Spectators can enjoy camping, picnicking, and scenic walks around the sprawling facility. The track’s location near the charming village of Elkhart Lake adds to its appeal, with local history tied closely to early road races that were held on public roads before the track was built.

For over 70 years, Road America has remained a bucket-list destination for motorsports enthusiasts, combining top-tier racing with the beauty and hospitality of rural Wisconsin. Its blend of history, challenge, and community continues to make it one of the most beloved circuits in the world of motorsport.
