F1 Weekend Forecast Discussion

Nice weather is expected for the Formula 1 Mexico City Grand Prix weekend. A dominant ridge of high pressure and a relatively dry atmospheric pattern will yield abundant sunshine and seasonably warm temperatures.

Friday's two practice sessions should experience partly cloudy skies and afternoon temperatures ranging from 22 to 24°C (75-79°F). Similar conditions are expected Saturday, with highs approaching 27°C (81°F) during the afternoon qualifying session. Although isolated afternoon showers cannot be completely ruled out, the prevailing forecast guidance favors dry conditions for both days.

Sunday's 71-lap Grand Prix should also benefit from mostly sunny skies, light winds and temperatures reaching 22 to 24°C (75-79°F) in the afternoon. With this early outlook, there is uncertainty remains regarding localized afternoon storms. However, the precipitation signal is insufficient to suggest a significant threat of race interruptions.

With rain unlikely to influence strategy, warm pavement temperatures, strong solar heating and the circuit's high elevation near 7,350 feet will be more important considerations for tire management, cooling efficiency and overall car performance.

More about the Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez

Located in Mexico City's Magdalena Mixiuhca sports complex, Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez is one of Formula 1's most distinctive venues. The 2.674-mile, 17-turn circuit sits approximately 7,500 feet above sea level, making it the highest-elevation track on the F1 calendar.

The thin atmosphere reduces aerodynamic downforce and cooling efficiency, presenting significant challenges for engines, brakes, and tire management. Originally constructed in 1959 and named for Mexican racing brothers Pedro and Ricardo Rodríguez, the circuit hosted its first World Championship Grand Prix in 1963.

Its modern configuration features a long main straight, technical corners, and the spectacular Foro Sol stadium section, where thousands of enthusiastic fans create an electric atmosphere. The Mexico City Grand Prix covers 71 laps and 189.5 miles.
