Dominion Raceway in Thornburg, Virginia, is a multi-purpose motorsports complex located just off Interstate 95 between Washington, D.C., and Richmond. Its centerpiece is a 4/10-mile paved oval designed to promote side-by-side racing in multiple grooves and host NASCAR-sanctioned local competition. The facility also features a 2-mile, 12-turn road course with more than 70 feet of elevation change, several camber changes and a 2,700-foot straightaway.
Dominion’s combination of short-track oval racing and a challenging natural-terrain road course gives the venue considerable variety. Weather can play an important role, with summertime heat, humidity and thunderstorms among the primary concerns for competitors and spectators in central Virginia.
