The region will remain under the influence of a broad mid-level ridge extending eastward from the central U.S. into the southern Appalachians. This ridging will suppress organized convection, supporting clear skies and maintaining a stable air mass. Surface high pressure centered over the Mid-Atlantic reinforces light northeasterly to easterly flow across eastern Tennessee, keeping dew points moderate and overnight lows comfortably cool.
By Friday, Sept 12, a weak frontal boundary will be draped across the Ohio Valley, but its influence will remain north of Bristol as the ridge holds firm locally.
On Saturday, Sept 13, the ridge begins to flatten slightly as a trough digs into the northern Plains, but its southern extension still dominates the Tennessee Valley. A few mid-level clouds may develop with weak return flow aloft, but conditions remain dry.
