NASCAR Weather Forecast Discussion
On Thursday and moving into a Friday, an upper-level trough is forecasted to move over the region and deepen over this period. Throughout Thursday, this upper-level trough will form a surface low-pressure system. As we move into Friday, this surface low is forecasted to move East but will become stuck on the Western side of the Appalachian mountains, near the Bristol Area. While this surface low will degrade by Saturday, it will still bring showers on Friday as it stalls out and decays.
Throughout the rest of the weekend, the upper-level trough is forecasted to move off to the East, leaving the region under an upper-level ridge, leading to calmer skies.
We will continue to update the forecast throughout the week!

More about Bristol Motor Speedway
Bristol Motor Speedway, formerly known as Bristol International Raceway and Bristol Raceway, is a NASCAR short track venue located in Bristol, Tennessee. Constructed in 1960, it held its first NASCAR race on July 30, 1961. Bristol is among the most popular tracks on the NASCAR schedule because of its distinct features, which include extraordinarily steep banking, an all-concrete surface, two pit roads, and stadium-like seating. It has also been named one of the loudest NASCAR tracks. The track is billed as the “World’s Fastest Half-Mile”
