More about the Milwaukee Mile
The Milwaukee Mile, located at Wisconsin State Fair Park in West Allis, Wisconsin, is considered the oldest operating motor speedway in the world. Originally used for horse racing, the one-mile oval hosted its first automobile race in September 1903 and remained a dirt track until it was paved in 1954.
More than a century of competition has made the Mile an important part of American racing history. IndyCar, CART, USAC and NASCAR have all competed there, while its list of winners includes legends such as A.J. Foyt, Mario Andretti, Al Unser and Rick Mears.
With relatively low banking and long corners, Milwaukee rewards momentum and precision, giving the historic oval a distinctly different character from many modern speedways.
