Hot, humid conditions will continue through the Singapore Grand Prix weekend with temperatures generally reaching the lower to mid 30s°C during the day and remaining very warm through the evening sessions.

Friday carries a risk of afternoon thunderstorms, while Saturday’s better thunderstorm chances are currently focused during the morning. Additional showers and thunderstorms are possible from late morning into early afternoon Sunday. That timing would favor at least some improvement before Sunday night’s 8:00 PM (local) Grand Prix, although Singapore convection can redevelop quickly and lightning delays always remain a concern.

A second issue this weekend is haze and degraded air quality. Singapore’s 24-hour Pollutant Standards Index reached the Unhealthy range Tuesday. Moderate to dense smoke from southern Sumatra and West Kalimantan has been transported toward Singapore on prevailing southeasterly winds, and NEA expects continued potential for High Moderate to Mid Unhealthy air quality while dry conditions persist in the fire areas.

The haze may also reduce visibility and visual clarity around the Marina Bay circuit, particularly if smoke concentrations remain elevated during otherwise dry periods. Showers later in the week may provide some temporary improvement through atmospheric mixing and washout, but there is not yet enough confidence to forecast a sustained clearing for race weekend.

With winds remaining generally from the south to south-southwest Friday through Sunday, the evolution of regional smoke plumes will need to be monitored closely.

RaceWeather outlook: Thunderstorms remain the primary short-duration operational weather risk, especially Friday afternoon and earlier in the day Saturday and Sunday. Haze, air quality and potentially reduced visibility are the more persistent concerns heading into the weekend.

More about Marina Bay Circuit

The Marina Bay Street Circuit is one of Formula 1’s most demanding urban venues, winding through downtown Singapore against a backdrop of skyscrapers, waterfront landmarks and floodlit city streets.

The 4.9-kilometer circuit is tight, technical and physically punishing, with frequent braking zones, limited runoff and little margin for error. Its combination of slow corners, short straights and high temperatures places heavy demands on brakes, tires and driver concentration. Because the race is held at night, track temperatures are lower than during the day, but Singapore’s tropical humidity still creates some of the toughest cockpit conditions on the calendar. Safety cars are common, making strategy and track position especially important.
