More about the North Wilkesboro Speedway

North Wilkesboro Speedway is one of NASCAR's most historic venues, blending old-school character with a modern revival. Opened in 1947 and featuring a unique 0.625-mile asphalt oval, the track's uphill backstretch and downhill frontstretch create changing banking and constantly evolving handling conditions.

After hosting NASCAR's premier series from 1949 through 1996, the speedway sat dormant for more than two decades before an extensive restoration returned racing to the legendary facility. Today, North Wilkesboro hosts the NASCAR racing along with grassroots racing and special events, reconnecting fans with one of stock car racing's most iconic and beloved short tracks.
