More about Red Bull Ring
The Red Bull Ring, located in Spielberg, Austria, is one of Europe’s most scenic and iconic racing circuits. Nestled in the picturesque Styrian mountains, the track combines challenging racing with stunning alpine views, making it a favorite among drivers and fans alike. Originally opened in 1969 as the Österreichring, the circuit quickly gained a reputation for its fast, flowing layout and dramatic elevation changes.
Through the 1970s and 1980s, the Österreichring hosted numerous memorable Formula 1 races. However, safety concerns led to significant changes in the mid-1990s, and the track was shortened and modernized, reopening in 1997 as the A1-Ring. After falling off the Formula 1 calendar for several years, the circuit was revitalized by Red Bull founder Dietrich Mateschitz, who oversaw extensive renovations before it reopened in 2011 as the Red Bull Ring.
Today, the 4.318-kilometer (2.683-mile), 10-turn circuit is known for its unique combination of long straights, tight corners, and dramatic elevation shifts. It consistently produces exciting racing across multiple series, including Formula 1, MotoGP, and DTM. The uphill run to Turn 3 is one of the most famous sections, providing prime overtaking opportunities and spectacular action.
Beyond motorsport, the Red Bull Ring has become a hub for entertainment and business events, offering driving experiences, concerts, and corporate programs throughout the year. Its integration with the Red Bull brand ensures cutting-edge facilities and a commitment to innovation.
With its rich history, modern facilities, and breathtaking location, the Red Bull Ring stands as a centerpiece of Austria’s motorsport heritage and continues to attract global attention as a must-visit venue on the international racing calendar.
