Daytona Speedweeks Outlook

It’s the start of Daytona Speedweeks and we are already beginning to see the pattern in the weather forecasts that we saw in 2011.  The early outlooks are more aggressive in bringing rain into the race weekend forecast.  In this case, a cold front moving across the Plains was forecast to move partway down the Florida before turning stationary.

The forecast pattern has not changed all that much.  But the chances for rain through the weekend have dropped from what the original outlooks were.  It will not be much of a gamble that the racing at Daytona this weekend will occur.

The race weekend outlook for this first week of Speedweeks 2012 is:

Friday: Cloudy with a 40% chance of afternoon showers, Hi: 76

Saturday: Variably cloudy, chance of isolated showers, Hi: 81

Sunday: Morning showers, clearing in time for the Daytona 500 qualifying, Hi: 76.  Temps dropping thru the afternoon behind a cold front.  Winds will be gusty from the northwest.
